The National Library of Medicine, the National Agricultural Library, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the United States Agricultural Information Network, are developing a Web portal for veterinary medicine practitioners in clinical settings who may have limited access to information resources and library services or who may be unaware of the resources and services available to them. A concept paper (pdf) about the project was released in May 2007. The Veterinary Medical Libraries Section of the Medical Library Association appointed an official liaison to the project in June 2007.

Work on the prototype site is underway. This project was announced to the veterinary community in the June 15, 2007 issue of The Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association. Focus groups were held at the 2007 meeting of American Veterinary Medical Association to gather feedback on the need for such a portal and to receive suggestions for resources to include.
